Max Speed: 32.2knots (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered:

Saw Al packing his car as I drove past at about 6:30. Ivor was already starting to flex his muscles. Wind meter showed gusts up to 30 knots but there appeared to be some pretty long lulls so rigged 6.0 and S-type and hoped for the best. Nothing wrong with the stability of the sail, it was rock solid. What really mattered was the state of the water. Steep sharp chop forced one to step off the gas just to stay alive. Soon I decided that it would be better to rig the wave board and 5 meter. By the time I had rigged the wind had increased a few knotches and I was maxed out and had to slow down to a crawl to get through the chop. Time for the 4.2 which proved just prefect and had a good half hour jumping off the chop and in control. The wind then eased off and the water flattend as the tide dropped so it was time for the s-type again. This was when the fun really started. 28 - 29 knots was just cruising and I hit over 30 plenty of times with a max speed of 32.2. I still have plenty to learn and with some really flat water 35knots is not impossible. No need for a smaller sail, just bigger balls.
